LowFOD™ Trifle Tower

No need to visit Paris to see the Trifle Tower! Make a LowFOD™ trifle at home, perfect for those with sensitive tummies!




4 slices of Bakers Delight Wholegrain LowFOD™ Loaf
50g butter


400ml lactose-free milk
4 egg yolks
1 tsp vanilla essence
4 tsp sugar

To Serve

1 punnet of strawberries
300ml thickened cream


  1. Base

    1. Step 1

      Blitz 4 toast cut slices of bread in an electric mixer 

    2. Step 2

      Melt 1.5 tablespoons butter in a pan, add the breadcrumbs and cook until toasted

  2. Custard

    1. Step 3

      To make the custard, heat the milk in a double boiler and before it reaches boiling point add the sugar and vanilla, and remove from the heat 

    2. Step 4

      Whisk the egg yolks in a bowl and add the milk mixture to the eggs spoonful at a time while continuing to whisk. Once that is all combined, put the mixture back into the double boiler and continue to whisk until it thickens 

    3. Step 5

      Once thick, place in the fridge to cool. Once cooled, it’s time to assemble the trifle

  3. To Assemble

    1. Step 6

      Spoon a layer of the bread mixture into your dish followed by a layer of your custard and repeat

    2. Step 7

      Finish with strawberries and whipped cream on top
